Getting Involved at the Shed
The strength of the Men’s Shed comes from members showing up and contributing in ways that feel natural to them.
Come Check It Out
No membership required to start. Join us at a meeting or event and see what it’s about.
Your first three visits are free, so you can get a feel for the space, meet the group, and decide if it’s a good fit.
How People Take Part
There’s no single way to be involved in the Shed. Over time, members tend to find a level of participation that fits their energy, interests, and availability.
Some come to spend time and connect. Others help shape what happens here. Most move between roles as things evolve and life brings change.
Where do you see yourself now?
(Stewarding the direction of the Shed)
This role often fits those who:
- Think about the bigger picture
- Care about sustainability and long-term growth
- Are comfortable making decisions and holding responsibility
- Want to help guide how the Shed develops over time
(Helping things happen on the ground)
This role suits members who:
- Enjoy organizing or getting things started
- Like working alongside or inspiring others to bring an idea to life
- Have a skill, interest, or area they’re willing to share
- Prefer practical involvement over formal leadership
This doesn’t mean doing everything—it often means helping something take shape and inviting others into it.
(The heart of the Shed)
This is where most people begin—and often stay.
It fits those who:
- Want to show up, take part, and connect
- Enjoy learning, building, or spending time with others
- Are open to helping out here and there
- Prefer flexibility without ongoing responsibility
Even small contributions—helping set up, sharing an idea, lending a hand—are what keep the Shed moving.
There’s no pressure to take on more than feels right. At the same time, the Shed depends on members contributing in ways that fit them.
Most people find that, over time, they naturally step in where they’re needed.
As we grow, we’re creating a clearer picture of how members want to be involved.
This helps us match people with activities of interest, share responsibility, and keep things running smoothly—without placing pressure on anyone.

No. The Shed is open to men of all ages.
While some members are retired, many are still working or at different stages of life. What brings people here is a shared interest in connection, friendship, mentorship, and having a place to belong.
We especially value having a mix of ages and backgrounds. There’s something meaningful in learning from each other—whether that’s experience, perspective, or practical skills.
It’s that mix that makes the Shed stronger.
