Solar Lighthouses
Some projects start as a simple idea for the workshop—and end up lighting the way a little further than expected.
Our solar lighthouse builds began as a hands-on activity for members in the woodworking shop. Designed and crafted right here, each set includes three lighthouses at 16", 20", and 24" tall, each topped with a solar-powered light.
Four of our members took part in bringing these to life, shaping, assembling, and finishing each piece with care. The materials come from a mix of donated supplies and items purchased through the shop, keeping the project both resourceful and sustainable.
What started as a shared build quickly became something more. The lighthouses were offered as part of our fundraising efforts and have already found their way into the community, with five or six sets sold so far. They were also featured at the Morinville Chamber of Commerce Spring Show & Sale event in Spring 2025 where they drew plenty of interest.
There’s something satisfying about seeing these pieces out in the world—quietly lighting up gardens and yards, each one carrying a bit of the time and care that went into it.
More lighthouses will be available at the Men’s Shed table during the upcoming 2026 Spring Show & Sale, and we’ll continue building them as interest grows.
